Naked Girls Reading presents
LADIES of LETTERS
Wednesday, June 19th at 9:00 pm

"I would venture to guess that Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman."
- Virginia Woolfe

Celebrate some of the women whose words have made history, as Naked Girls Reading presents LADIES OF LETTERS. The hit nude literary salon shares an evening of great female authors both historical and modern: from Enheduanna's hymns to Inanna, to Virginia Woolfe's musings on women who write, to a certain contemporary wordsmith's beloved world of magic ... and many more in between.

Host Nasty Canasta welcomes Galatea, Iris Explosion and brand-new Naked Girl Marlo Marquise for a night of writing by gentlewomen and grrrls alike, as the Naked Girls share their favorite female authors at Naked Girls Reading LADIES OF LETTERS!

In the studio ...

Nights have been busy with some fantastic shows, but the days have been just as full of shiny, sparkly fabulousness! Here's a little peek at some of the projects that have come out of the studio lately:

"Blue Velvet" showgirl costume for Francine The Lucid Dream ...

... Gypsy butterfly dance skirt for Dragata Dakarra ...

... a for-the-hell-of-it project
(made from curtains & some spare shiny things lying around the studio) ...

... and a "fur" coat for a new act-in-progress (just in time for the summer, of course!)

Wasablanca returns to The Bell House

THIS Friday, April 26
Nasty Canasta, Wasabassco & Wit's End present

Wasablanca at The Bell House
A tribute to the classic film, featuring live music, cocktails, well-dressed people
and plenty of saucy striptease.

You’re invited to a fully immersive evening right out of the golden age of the silver screen when The Bell House transforms into a Moroccan den of intrigue, cocktails, jazz, blackmail and burlesque - all inspired by the classic Oscar-winning film Casablanca.

It’s 1941(ish) and the unoccupied area of Brooklyn known as Wasablanca remains one of the last holdouts of freedom against the marching forces of fascism. At The Bell House people come to drink, dance, play games of chance and indulge in acts of subterfuge, conspiracy and illicit liaisons - because in Wasablanca the drinks are cheap, but freedom comes at a price.

The night’s festivities will feature burlesque from Wasabassco; live music all night by The Gelber & Manning Band; a complex struggle of liberty against tyranny from ecdysiast playwright Nasty Canasta; and exquisitely crafted cocktails, jazz age ambience, and all the period dress, glamorous gowns, snazzy suits and fezzes you’ve come to expect from Wit’s End. It’s a party, it’s a play, it’s a show, it’s … Wasablanca.

Featuring:
Deity, Doc Wasabassco, Don Spiro, Broadway Brassy, Evelyn Vinyl, Handsome Jim Greene, Hazel Honeysuckle, Kita St. Cyr, Marlo Marquise, Nasty Canasta, Poison Ivory, Sapphire Jones, Stormy Leather, and more.

The Bell House - 149 7th Street (bet 2nd & 3rd Ave), Brooklyn

$20 Admission
8pm-Midnight
